About Me

I started out doing traditional stained glass panels about 9 years ago. The colors and patterns of manufactured glass available were inspiring. I loved working with glass and creating art for my home and garden. I also made many stopping stones to accent my flower gardens and those of friends and Glass & Stone was born.

Then I discovered fused glass and found my passion. Fused glass is a tem used to describe glass that has been fired (heat-processed) in a kiln at a range of high temperatures from approximately 1300 º - 1600 º F. Now I could combine glass in many forms including rolled, confetti flakes, ground frit and stingers to name a few and make my own designs.

The possibilities are endless, combining layers and forms of glass, embellishing and treating each layer, pacing it in the kiln and controlling the end results with temperature and time to create a unique work of art. While it does not always turn out as expected, it is like Christmas morning when you open up the kiln after multiple, long firing process.

I get many of my ideas and patters from nature as I live in the country on a dairy farm in rural Wisconsin and only have to look out my window or work with the animals for inspiration. I also am lucky enough to have lots of room for flower gardens that attract birds and butterflies.
